Email, website and automated messaging system are all used to communicate pertinent information to swimmers and families. The automated messaging system is utilized as a first means of communication to convey urgent and important messages to families, e.g. pool closure. It is the family's responsibility to check their Email, voicemail, and Club Assistant account page regularly for communications and billing information. List up to two phone numbers to receive automated voice messages; one phone number is mandatory.
Structure/Fees listed below. Payment is required at registration. Each swimmer will receive a team t-shirt. Please review the team handbook [Link] This is a must read for parent/guardian and swimmer. Seal’s swimming adheres to rules and regulations of its governing body, USA Swimming, Inc.
Any swimmer who is new to the Seals may try the team for up to five workouts at no charge. The trial workouts must be completed over a two week period.
Prior to entry into the pool, a current USA Registration form must be completed, as well as on-line registration as a trial member. There is no charge for this Trial membership. To continue with the team after the trial period, the swimmer must register as a full member of the Seals, and make payment in full for the first month dues, as well as the USA registration fee.
Seals membership requires the following:
1. Current USA Registration Form, parent signature required. Print and complete USA Registration Form - Yearly
2. Completed Online Registration form.
3. Payment of dues and other fees as outlined:
- $57.00 USA Registration fee (per swimmer) due in full
- $30.00 Annual Seals Registration fee (per family) for non-Westbrook residents
- Dues for the first month are pro-rated
Dues: If a swimmer swims any part of the month then the whole month is charged, with the exception of the first month which will be prorated, as well as April and August. The Registrar must be notified when the swimmer's status changes. Any special financial circumstances must be approved by the board. You may contact the Treasurer or any board member for more information.
Dryland Dues: Gold II and Senior groups have the opportunity to receive dryland/strength training through Ben McCrillis. If swimmer chooses to participate in dryland training, Seals will cover 25% of the fee, swimmer is responsible for the remaining 75% (typically $25 - $35 per month). Dryland dues are in addition to regular swim dues. If swimmer participates in drylands during any part of the month, the entire month is charged in full. It is Seals policy that swimmer must be an active member of Seals to participate in club subsidized dryland training.
Meet Fees: All meet fees incurred by swimmer will be charged to swimmer's account at the closing date of meet sign up. Meet sign-up constitutes an agreement to pay associated meet fees. Meet fees may include event entry fees, and surcharges (if applicable). In 2010-2011, meet travel fees (coach expenses) are covered by the Seals and are not charged to the individual swimmers, with the exception of Sectionals, Nationals or other high level out of state meets as designated by the coaching staff. For these exceptions, Seals pays for 50% of all coach travel expenses. The remaining 50% of expenses are divided equally among the participating swimmers. Travel costs include coach expenses such as meals, vehicle rental, mileage, gas, tolls, lodging. Meet sign-up constitutes an agreement to participate in the meet and/or to pay associated meet fees.
Seals Registration: $30.00 annual fee per family. Waived for City of Westbrook residents.
USA Swim Registration: $57.00 annual fee per swimmer.
Sibling Discount: More than one child in family swimming – 1st child pays full dues, each additional child receives $10.00 off monthly dues. If you believe that you are eligible for this discount, please email jdshoberg@gmail.com.
Yearly Discount: There is a 10% dues discount for those who pay for the entire year in advance. If you believe that you are eligible for this discount, please email jdshoberg@gmail.com.
High School Swim Special: December through end of February - $95.00 per month. Allows current Seals member to swim a fixed schedule of Monday, Wednesday and Saturday practices, plus Tuesday and Thursday mornings as well as any Seals attended meets, while swimming for a high school swim team.
College Swimmers: Pay a pro-rated amount based on the monthly fee during summer break. Current USA membership entitles returning Seals to swim at no charge during winter break.
Any questions regarding the dues structure or other fees should be directed to a board member.
Billing:
By completing the on-line registration form, you are authorizing Seals Swimming to automatically bill your Credit/ATM/Debit card. All sales are final. All information is confidential and on a secured network. We do not share or distribute information. Current dues and meet fees will be charged to your Credit/ATM/Debit card on the first of each month.
NOTIFY the Seals Swimming Registrar by email, jdshoberg@gmail.com of any changes to your account or cancellation before the 1st of the month. If the registrar is NOT notified before the first of the month, your account will be charged for that month.
